Driver
education is very critical in our society. When a student takes
drivers ed, they learn the important significances of how to be a
safe driver. When they are driving, they learn that they are
responsible for themselves, as well as the passengers in the car.
Sadly, people often make dangerous choices while driving. And the
number of deaths due to car accidents have risen every year. This is
due to: texting and driving, drunk driving and other distracting
methods. So, how is texting and driving a way that

Texting
and driving are another way that car accidents happen. I believe that
people should turn off their phone ringer, and put it somewhere where
they can’t reach it. I believe that the person you want to text can
wait. As for me, I put my phone on do not disturb mode. With this on,
I get zero notifications while I drive until I have safely parked.
The phrase, “texting and driving,” doesn’t just mean those
exact words. This also includes being on social media while operating
a vehicle. Looking at status updates and friends’ pictures while
driving is not safe because you will get distracted by reading what
your friends post. People can look at those pictures or status
updates when they get to their destination. Drunk driving is another
dangerous way that people cause car accidents.

Next,
intoxicated drivers are a result of people making foolish decisions.
I believe people should be smarter about their decision making. After
having a few drinks, people should either have a designated driver or
only have one drink. Sadly, there have been multiple crashes around
the United States with underage drinkers. Most of these underage
drinkers are high school students. I believe that high school
students should know better than to drink and drive because they are
underage, and drinking is not safe nor smart. There are also other
distracting ways that people do to cause crashes.

Finally,
people do not pay enough attention while driving. Listening to music
through headphones is another way that people can distracted because
you can’t hear anything. Radios are there for a reason! Another
distraction method that happens is when ladies do their makeup while
operating a vehicle. My advice for this is to do your makeup before
you leave the house. Sometimes, pets can also distract people while
driving. For example: little dogs. Yes, they might be very cute, but
people don’t need dogs in their laps while driving. Drivers should
be zoned in and looking around as well. We have peripheral vison for
a reason.

Drivers
in the United States should be more careful about their choices while
operating a vehicle. As for they are responsible for themselves and
the others in the vehicle, they shouldn’t text and drive. And to
pick a phone up while driving is putting everyone at risk. Drunk
drivers are getting worse and worse, especially with underage
drinkers. As there are multiple ways people get distracted while
driving, please be responsible for your own actions.
