the importance of drivers ed in reducing the number deaths as
    a result of driving?

  • What
steps can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to
    driving?

  • Have
you ever had an experience of being in car accident or have seen
your friends or family members driving irresponsibly?

  • What
steps can you take to be a better and safer driver as well as help
others become safer on the road?

The importance of
drivers ed in reducing the numbers of deaths is important, in
educating the public on the dangers of driving, and educating drivers
on how to safely practice driving.

The steps that can
be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to driving, are
various practices that are undertaken in multiple foriegn countries.
The first step, is large scale publicity on social media, such as
instagram, snapchat, tik tok, educating about the dangers of
distracted driving, drunk driving, and not paying attention on the
road. In my opinion I believe the best way to do such things, is
through humor, which more people would pay attention to. One way of
doing so, is by making tik tok videos or memes, even the shock of the
DMV making humorous videos would be enough to bring attention to
some, of the dangers that can be associated to driving, and ways of
lowering the risks, through cautious and safe behavior. Other steps,
is an incentive program for safe drivers, that goes beyond insurance.
For example, in Sweden there is an annual lottery for all drivers
that drive safely under or at the speed limit, with the rewards
coming from the fines of the speeders. If this was implemented on
America’s highways and streets, it could give incentive for
millions of drivers to follow the speed limit, and even receive a
reward for doing so. Other steps, are strict enforcement on passing
on the left, intensive road repairs, regular and thorough inspections
on automobiles in all states, extreme education on drunk driving and
giving permission to barkeeps and tavern workers, to take possession
of a drunk individuals keys, if they believe they are going to drive
and the extreme enforcement and punishment for tailgating and
tailgaters. My final step that I believe can reduce deaths in
driving, would be to establish for the major interstates, the
abolition of any speed limit in some underpopulated regions, similar
to the autobahn in Germany. The idea of restricting speed limits, is
it allows those who have better driving experience to go faster, thus
lessening traffic and traffic related accidents, and also allows
those who feel uncomfortable going fast, to go slow. From my
experience of living in germany, for five years, I rarely saw
dangerous driving, because most people drove around 60mph when the
speed limit was unrestricted, seldom did anyone speed more than 100.

Ive been in an
accident involving deer twice, my mother was in a car crash with my
younger sister but thankfully no one was hurt. Ive had one friend in
high school, whose car was going too fast, and he spun off the road
and crashed into a river, he just had a few scratches though. I was
with one friend, I was facetiming him as he was driving, and he
crashed his car into a tree as we were still talking on the phone,
luckily he made it out alive with only a few fractured rips and a
broken arm.

The steps I can take
to be a better driver is to pay more attention, not look at my phone
whilst I drive, and try not to speed, the only way I can help my
friends be safer is by adivising them to do the same.
