Gluing Broken Glass Glass
As
the piercing screech of rubber meets shards of broken glass, driving
is inarguably one of man’s most advanced yet dangerous inventions.
With such knowledge in the technological field of car making, the
education went into the classes to prepare future drivers has lacked
in comparison. Drivers ed not only teaches the proper
procedures for safe driving, it demonstrates leadership and maturity.
Being cognitively aware of how to safely drive on the road and
operate a vehicle ensures that the number of accidents will decrease.
Number ours actions have been taken to try and repair the faults in
human technology, such as airbags and crash tests, but not enough has
been achieved. A proposition that can be taken to reduce the number
of deaths from driving would be to study and analyze the most common
mistakes drivers make that lead to collisions. It would be
inefficient to fix and issue that does not pose a problem to begin
with. Several years ago, I was in a car accident with my mother and
older sister. We were driving on the highway while it was snowing,
coating the roads in white dust. A car passed on my right, passing us
at a significant speed. They spun out into our lane, their headlight
flashing our eyes. My mom quickly swerved to the right, having our
left headlight smashed to pieces. We went to the shoulder as quickly
as we could and merely missed getting hit by a semi that couldn’t
slow. It was this instance that I understood why drivers ed
was vital to the safety of myself and those I loved. How I could
contribute to the part of society that was learning to drive safely
and responsibly was to ask questions that I did not know the answer
to. The best way to make sure I was safe for myself and others was to
fill my mind with as much knowledge as I can and share it with others
around me. Drivers ed not only will reduce the number of
deaths on the road by informing, but by also having those aware come
to the realization that their actions don’t just affect them, but
society as a whole.
