Being a safe driver

Being a Safe Driver

As a new
driver I take many precautions to ensure that I am putting my safety
first and being responsible with my actions. One step I take to be a
safe driver is understanding that it is not only my life who will be
affected by my careless actions. My mistake could possibly lead to
someone else’s life being taken away or affected forever. Staying
focused at all times is very important when it comes to avoiding
accidents in the road. I make sure to never have my phone next to me
when I am driving since it can be tempting to pick it up. From
experience, I can say that a lot of drivers tend to use their mobile
devices to text while they are driving. In many occasions I have seen
them get distracted by this and putting their life at risk for a text
they could send whenever they arrive at their destination. I believe
that a very important component in helping others to be safe drivers
is making them understand how their life could end in a matter of
seconds. Nowadays people don’t see driving as “dangerous” or
life threatening because it is something that we do every day, but to
me that is not the case. I take driving very serious and I would want
others to do so as well. You could step into a vehicle any day but it
is not granted that you will get to step out. Teaching others how to
not use their phones while driving, always being alert, wearing their
seatbelts and thinking about their safety is crucial. Also, a big
issue with individuals my age is drunk driving. I make sure to
discuss this with my friends once in a while so that we all
understand the dangers of it. Teenagers tend to be irresponsible and
have lack of experience, so many of them do not take this serious.
For some, they just want to have fun without thinking about the
consequences. Younger people should be enrolled in safety driving
courses and be more informed about it. There are times where
teenagers will even finish high school without ever taking Drivers Ed
or any related class. Staying informed in the dangers of driving
irresponsibly is essential as well.

If we all put effort and teach kids and teenagers how to stay
safe there will be less lives being taken away. Having the ability to
have a car and being able to drive to work, school or etc. is a
blessing that we should appreciate by being careful and aware.
