A
Memory
Let’s get right down to the point. In the middle of the year 2019 I
was involved in a huge accident. High school is coming to an end and
me and my friends are driving home. We were all blasting music, just
fooling around. I brought forth an idea that would forever change our
lives. A few minutes later, a skid, a crash, my friends are blacked
out and I’m trying to get them awake. There is a lot that runs
through your head. Are my friends okay? Why did I think of doing
this? Did I kill my friends? What do I tell their families? What do I
tell my family? These thoughts run through your head wondering if
things are going to be actually okay after all of this. Eventually,
the worst injury was a broken arm that healed rather quickly for my
friend, the rest of us left with bruises and cuts. After a couple of
months we all have healed, and we are all moving on through our
lives.
Now, what is the
reason I explain my accident in detail? It’s more so to explain a
story that I experienced myself. A lot of teenagers, such as myself,
do not really see the dangers of just fooling around in the car,
thinking of ideas that seem fun, but are actually dangerous. I tell
my own story in order to teach others, most importantly teenagers who
are beginning to drive, that driving is really a privilege and not
just an act for us to have more fun in our lives. Driving is
something everyone must take seriously and really should not be taken
for granted. As for my own accident, as much as I still think about
this everyday, wondering how lucky we all are to be out of it alive,
I can look at it now as a memory; a memory which I have grown and
learned from.
