Taking
life one drive at a time

There
is not a price you can put on a human life, this is one of the
reasons we celebrate the brave men and women that fight overseas for
our safety. But there’s a war being fought on our own soil, from
sea to shining sea, that’s constantly being overlooked. With the
automobile as it’s weapon, anyone can be the victim, and anybody
can be the culprit of a car accident. In many cases car accidents can
be prevented, and it’s through better education that we can help
limit the number of accidents subsequently decreasing the number of
fatalities we face yearly.

Drivers
education is something that affects everyone in one way or another.
Everyone that has a license has had to get some form of drivers
education and that education can determine life or death. Considering
the highest age demographic of people to get in a wreck are people in
their 20’s and teenage years, which is the age most start the
process of taking drivers ed and obtain their license. This means the
initial impact of a drivers ed helps determine whether a driver
will be safe and knowledgeable on the road or reckless and a threat
to themselves and others. 15 of our 50 states have online education
driving the importance of good education up all the more since these
states report online learning is used more often than physical
schooling. Whether online or in person it’s essential students soak
up every bit of knowledge they can to better protect themselves and
others. After I took drivers ed, online, and got out into the real
world I realized there was a lot I had forgotten or had not learned.
I consider myself to be a good and safe driver, but if I forgot minor
traffic laws and procedures then I know others have too. And what
happens if someone else forgets more than just minor traffic laws?

I’ve
had many family members die in car accidents and I have been the
passenger in a few myself. It’s the simple steps of focusing and
obtaining knowledge from the curriculum that I wish I could remind
those drivers of. The curriculum is meant to teach you how to be a
safe driver and you must not only have patience with the system but
to also have patience when you’re driving in the real world. Better
moderation in the classroom, by parents, or even moderation online
all go in stride with trying to make our streets safer. Students also
should have more experience driving with their permit before they get
their license. This would allow them to have better confidence when
they drive and hopefully remind them of any of the things they had
forgotten from the course.

It’s
a group effort from top to bottom to protect not just ourselves but
also each other. Each year 1.3 million people die worldwide in car
accidents and in the U.S we make up between 30 and 40 thousand of
that statistic. With approximately 143 daily commuters it’s only a
matter of time before an accident happens. But with a strengthened
education system we can save one life at a time starting with one
drive at a time. So I hope you’ll join me in taking simple steps to
make driving safer because after all, there is no price you can put
on human life.
