Education and
training are beyond valuable in reducing the number of fatal crashes
on roads. Drivers ed is required to be able to get a
Driver’s License in California, and it is like that for a reason.
If a driver is uneducated in operating a vehicle, it is logically
much more likely that they will make more mistakes and have a higher
risk of crashing and dying. Drivers need to be educated so that they
are able to both be familiar with how a car works as well as how to
make decisions on the road better. In order to reduce the number of
traffic deaths each year, people need to follow the rules and
recommendations from the DMV much more closely. Many people expect
others to follow the rules and recommendations covered in a driving
test, so when they aren’t followed by a reckless driver, accidents
and fatalities can occur. I have never been in an accident, but I
have friends who drive rather recklessly, so I am worried about them
sometimes. If they are either late to a gathering or aren’t on
their phone for a while, I start to wonder if their reckless driving
caught up to them. There are steps that both they and I can take to
become safer drivers, like reviewing the DMV handbook and being more
conscious of our habits, possibly changing the ones that may put us
in more danger. It takes 2 drivers to be in an accident, so if
someone changes their habits to be safer, their chances of being in a
fatal car crash are much lower.
