It Wouldn’t Stop
February
21st, 2019 I lost an angel. Alexia Journey Scordelis, a beautiful
girl. She had fair skin, she always knew how to do the perfect
eyebrows, and most of all she was God driven. The reason I bring up
such a wonderful human being is because she lost her life in one of
the most tragic car accidents I had ever seen.
Lexi, what all of her friends called her, was riding passenger in the
car with one of her best friends Tonya. Tonya stops at a stop sign,
she sees a car coming but she believed that there was a four way
stop. The speed limit is 35 mph on that small two lane road, but a
black truck thought otherwise. He decided to go way faster than
35mph…maybe 50 mph. Tonya thinks that this man is going to stop, so
she continues on her journey. Sadly, her journey didn’t last but two
seconds. The truck, speeding through the stop sign, t-boned them, on
Lexi’s side. Sending the car sideways, and busting all the windows,
glass thrown everywhere. Lexi died on impact. They still took her to
the hospital, but they knew that it was too late.
The
most cheerful, God loving, beautiful person was taken from us. What’s
worse is that I never got to say goodbye. After the accident, the
next day to be precise, my friend Mia comes up to me crying, and very
much upset. I’ll never forget what she said to me. “lEXI’S
DEAD. LEXI’S DEAD PAIGE!” I was shocked at first, I didn’t
believe it, but the more I thought about it, the harder it was to
stay strong. Tears fell out of my eyes like a flowing waterfall, I
couldn’t stop them from crying. I had never felt pain like this, I
had never had a friend die on me, I have never been able to
understand this kind of pain. I couldn’t handle myself, so I left
school with Mia and we went to her school. We remembered her, but
sadly we were forced to leave due to the school being a “closed”
one.
My mind was in a loop, my body couldn’t function properly, my whole
world was destroyed. The reason I say all this is because no one
cares about how they act, how they drive, or how they approach
certain situations on the road. No one cares until they kill
themselves or they kill someone else. Driving is a privilege not a
right, and people who abuse it should be called out. I believe that
we must keep safe, always use our blinkers, always be on the correct
speed limit, just always BE SAFE. If anyone and everyone can follow
these laws of the road then we could live a life of no fear. There
are people in this world who are afraid to go outside and drive
because of the reckless drivers that are on the road to this day.
Nobody
should have to live in fear of driving because it’s supposed to be
useful. Please just obey the laws of the road, we don’t need anyone
else ending up like Lexi. She had her whole life, so keep your life
and stay safe. #LiveLikeLexi
