Knowledge will Save Lives!!

While
on the road, some drivers tend to focus the least amount of attention
on actually driving. Drivers change the radio station, call friends,
dance to songs, eat snacks, and even apply makeup while driving. The
worst part about this is that these drivers are told of the dangers
but do not think twice about their reckless behavior. Being a safe
driver not only protects you and those in your car, but also the
millions of others on the road. It is incredibly important to learn
how to safely drive in order to prevent irresponsible driving and
unnecessary deaths.

I
am sure every person has been in a car with a reckless driver whether
they realize it or not. I have been in accidents before where drivers
may have been reckless. I have also been in a car with an
irresponsible driver. Some characteristics of irresponsible driving
this individual showed included swerving through lanes, not wearing a
seatbelt, and turning around to dance with others in the car. People
must understand that this behavior is not acceptable, and that there
are ways to prevent it. While traffic might be slow, and you want to
get to your destination quickly, weaving through cars is not the
answer. Try going with the flow of traffic and enjoying the company
of friends in the car instead. While listening to music in the car,
it is okay to sing along, but keep movements to a minimum and keep
your eyes on the road so the wheel does not shift. A seat belt must
be worn at all times. Even if you think that you will not get into an
accident, you have no clue what the other drivers are doing and the
seatbelt might save your life. It is key to take these steps in order
to be the best, and safest driver possible.

Before
a new driver even sits in the driver’s seat and goes onto the road
alone, they must be equipped with the knowledge of driver’s
education. This education includes what to do to prevent
hydroplaning, how to properly pull over if something goes wrong with
the car, and what distance to keep from the car in front of you. This
knowledge could prevent deaths while driving. Many young drivers
think they are prepared for the road but they do not realize the
situations that arise when driving. Becoming educated on hydroplaning
can save someone from drifting into the next lane while turning, and
hitting another car. Learning to pull over far enough from the road
can prevent a car driving close to the lines accidentally hitting
you. Leaving a proper three second distance from the car in front of
you can prevent you from crashing into the other car if they need to
slam on the breaks. It is vital the take these proper steps and to
educate other drivers on them as well, so less deaths happen due to
irresponsible driving and the lack of drivers ed.
