Driving
is an important part of life and is the basis for many aspects of
society. We use it to get to school and work, to visit family and
friends, to visit new places, and more. But whether your drive or
not, you are in some way impacted by driving.

Many
lives are taken as a result of poor driving and improper education on
driving. Drivers ed is the key to safe driving and allows
better road conditions for everyone. Drivers ed provides the
basis of all knowledge relating to driving and is important to ensure
the safety of everyone on the road. With drivers ed, students
learn at a young age what they can do to prevent accidents and how to
develop into a skilled driver. This in return reduces the number of
deaths related to driving.

Furthermore,
many steps can be taken to ensure the number of deaths related to
driving is kept low. One step includes using caution. Knowing those
around you while driving is very important because it allows you to
take cautionary measures. If you see someone behind you, for example,
that is very close to your bumper, you can get over to ensure they
don’t hit you. Drivers can also reduce the number of deaths related
to driving by refraining from drinking and driving. Drinking and
driving occur when a driver is intoxicated and continues to drive
regardless of their ability to drive. This is very dangerous for both
the driver and those around the driver. By avoiding this, the
intoxicated individual can save not only them self but those who
would have been impacted by the possible car accident (this can
include other cars, pedestrians, etc.).

I
remember being in a car accident and remember the experience very
clearly. I was with my family in our car at a stoplight. We pulled up
to the light and it was red, so we stopped. Seconds later, we were
hit in the back by a car. To this day, I am not sure how they hit us.
Were they on their phone? Were they distracted? Although I’ll never
find answers to these questions, I do know that the driver who hit us
wasn’t cautious and risked several lives. Ever since this
experience, I have made sure to practice safe driving. This accident
was very eye-opening and made me realize that life is precious. I
would never want to take someone’s life because of poor driving.

I
know that I am not a perfect driver and that I can always improve on
my driving. One of the biggest things I need to work on is becoming
more patient. I get frustrated when drivers go under the speed limit,
so I feel the need to pass them. I should work on being more patient
and understanding of drivers and realize that I don’t need to have
rage while driving. Rage shouldn’t be the answer while driving.
