Be Aware. Save a Life

Be
Aware. Save a Life

Millions.
Millions of people killed each year around the world by something
that is so familiar yet can turn into something deadly in an instant.
Although you would like for death by a vehicle to be something that
you think will never happen to you or someone you know, it is sadly
quite expected these days due to the exceedingly high amount of
deaths that occur on a day-to-day basis. Oftentimes these deaths are
due to just simple mistakes made by drivers such as making the wrong
turn at the incorrect time, not knowing a road sign, etc. Things that
could have easily been prevented. These simple mistakes being made is
why it is so important for each and every person to complete a
drivers ed course. These courses are specifically designed so
that these simple mistakes are not made. Not only that, but they
bring about awareness for that person who may think that they are
still ok to drive after drinking that beer or that person who thinks
it is ok to not wear a seatbelt “just this one time” because they
don’t think a deadly accident will happen to them. In reality, most
of the time one cannot predict when an accident is about to happen
which is what makes them so deadly. If everyone took part in a
drivers ed course though and truly kept the information they learned
in mind instead of forgetting it as soon as they received their
license, chances are there would be a lot more people alive today.

In
terms of simple mistakes being done on the road, I have been able to
see many due to the multiple accidents I have been in with my mom.
From the ages of two to fifteen I have been in the car when my mom
has had accidents due to another person’s drunk driving where my
mother’s car was shoved under an entire semi-truck with us inside
due to a drunk driver behind her, a driver making an illegal turn
where he t-boned the car causing the car to be totaled, and overall
other drivers not paying attention to the road. All of these
accidents have left mental impacts on me and my mom and could have
been quite deadly. If the important lessons taught by drivers
education courses would have been remembered, I am confident that
many of these accidents could have been prevented which is why these
courses are so important. In accordance to this, I have been able to
learn from these accidents and I know now that by me knowing and
remembering all rules and regulations of the road, always wearing my
seatbelt, never allowing someone to drive under the influence, and
advocating for drivers ed courses more, I will be able to keep myself
and others safer and hopefully make a contribution in order to lower
the number of deaths that occur due to driving each year.
