One
Car Ride

It
was 9’o clock in the morning and my parents and I were heading to
church. I went in the car, and my parents always made sure I had my
seat belt on before taking off. I was a sneaky one at fourteen years
old and every time they started the car I’d take off the seat belt.
During the car ride I took time to admire the sun that was shining
beautifully on the face of the earth. The birds were chirping and the
butterflies were landing on the flowers to collect their sweet
nectar. It was such a great view, and I thought to myself what a
beautiful masterpiece God left for us!

When
we arrived to church I was so happy, until my aunt informed me that
our uncle died. We all decided to leave church service early to go to
the funeral. My aunt had a black five passenger SUV, but there was
seven of us. We decided to let two cousins sit in the back trunk of
the SUV.My dad, my other cousin, and I sat in the back seat. I
neglected to put my seat belt on, as always; and my mom sat next to
the driver. The Car ride was going smoothly and all of us were
laughing together, and I was playing piano tiles on my tablet. My
aunt was on the phone talking to her friend while driving. Then all
of a sudden I heard a sound go, “boom!” The car flipped over and
all other sounds were blocked off as if I had just lost my hearing.
Everything went dark as if I had just gone blind. Most of my senses
were gone, but I still was able to feel, and what I felt was my body
being thrown from left window to right window. I didn’t wake up, I
didn’t breathe, and my heart wasn’t beating for what felt like
ten seconds . When I woke up I left on a stretcher and thought that I
had lost my ability to walk and write because I was just in so much
pain. But here I am five years later, walking, talking, and writing
this essay. When I go in the car I still admire God’s creation, but
I put my seat belt on first because I’d rather admire nature for a
long time rather than a short time. And when I become a driver myself
I’ll know that I already got step number one down.

We
need to take the precautions there is to be better drivers by putting
on our seat belts, paying attention to the road, and respecting the
amount of passengers the car can take. If you need to get educated
get educated because it was the lack of education that almost caused
us to lose seven lives in one car ride.
