Drivers Ed Makes A Difference
It
is proven fact that people who take drivers ed are known to
have fewer accidents and make less mistakes than those who don’t
take it. And a parent teaching their child isn’t equal to driver’s
education. That parent’s way of driving is only a modified version
of drivers ed. And teens don’t exactly listen to their parents.
Drivers Ed strictly focuses on the safety of the driver, so it
makes a difference. Car accidents are the number one cause of death
for teens, yet less and less people are taking drivers ed. Most
parents don’t want to pay for Drivers Ed, but it is better to
pay the price now than later with a life. However, if someone didn’t
take drivers ed, there are ways to avoid a car accident. First of
all, obey all traffic laws which includes wearing your seatbelt at
all times. They are there for a reason and not all rules are made to
be broken. Secondly, it is ideal to drive with no distractions (a
cell phone or blaring music). Next, be a defensive driver. The best
drivers, drive defensively. Those people are able to pick up cues and
react accordingly. Finally, make an effort to constantly develop and
master driving skills. There is always room for improvement, so
always be aware of your surroundings and pay close attention to the
road. My mom has been driving for years and she took Drivers Ed;
however, we ended up rear ending a van full of kids. She was
distracted; therefore, the accident was avoidable. The accident
wasn’t major, but it did leave costly damages to both cars. My mom
was very distraught because she knew her small mistake lead to a
bigger mistake. To this day, she is embarrassed about it. I can list
a whole bunch of steps to tell me how to be a better driver, but
there is one thing that will drastically make my driving better.
Arrogance. My arrogance is my greatest flaw in driving. I think I’m
the best driver out there and I am invincible. Which causes me to
constantly speed and drive a little wild. I haven’t been in an
accident since I’ve gotten my license, but I’m due. If I slow
down and be mindful, other drivers and my parents will be less
worried every time I’m on the road.
