Safety
is the top priority when it comes to driving. However, people fail to
understand the importance of driving safety. People’s careless acts
of not wearing a seat belt, texting while driving, passengers
distracting the driver, driving while restless, and many other
driving cautions result in danger. Although participating in these
dangerous practices may allow people to get to their destinations
safely, the dangerous practices increase people’s risk of an
accident. Nevertheless, with the proper steps and the encouragement
of the proper practices, driving statistics will improve.

To
reduce driving-related deaths, enforcing more hours of driver
education is essential. Drivers ed gives drivers extra
preparation for safe driving. It reviews the meaning of different
traffic signs, clarifies misunderstood driving manners, warns about
different driving consequences when the rules are not followed, and
gives more experience in driving. Most importantly, drivers ed
warns drivers about the dangerous risks of driving, such as car
malfunction and car accidents. Provided that, drivers ed covers
specific details that must be brought to drivers’ attention.
Therefore, with the step of giving essential driving knowledge,
drivers will be more cautious about their driving habits, resulting
in better driving statistics.

Although
my friends and family members have had drivers ed, I have seen
my friends and family members driving irresponsibly. Some examples
include them texting and driving and not keeping their full attention
on the road. These actions terrify me because I am extremely cautious
when it comes to driving. However, I have steps that ensure my safe
driving, as well as my friends and family members’ driving. For
instance, if I feel the urge to read a text message, I pull over,
refrain until I am in a safe position, or tell one of my passengers
to respond to the text message for me. In like manner, I respond for
my friends and family members when they are driving. Nevertheless, I
keep my music loud when I am driving alone to help me stay alert, and
I talk to my friends and family members to keep them alert without
distracting them. I even warn my friends when I see risky driving
behavior. Moreover, I enforce the importance of wearing seat belts.
With that being said, I take extra precautions when it comes to
driving safety. Therefore, my encouragement of proper driving safety
will help improve driving statistics.

Knowledge
and encouragement of driving safety is the key to better driving
statistics. These steps will reduce the careless acts of driving and
promote proper driving safety.
