Education Ensures Safe Driving

Improper
driving is one of the leading causes of car accidents for drivers of
all ages in the United States. This may be because of their lack of
education about driving and how to be a safe driver. Though there are
many opportunities to further your education about driving by taking
drivers ed classes, most people do not take advantage of them.
Drivers ed is an important factor in reducing the number of car
accidents and deaths as a result of driving. Because, the more
educated you are about how to be a safe driver or passenger, the more
you will be aware of the actions you take in a vehicle.

Some
steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths related to
driving include, making sure that your mobile devices and other
technologies are not going to become distractors. You can do this by:
turning off your phone (or putting it on silent), putting yourself
somewhere it will not distract you, like in the center console. And
if you have passengers, you can have them send messages or take calls
for you. Another way to stay safe on the road is to make sure that
you are not driving while intoxicated. This is not only illegal, but
it is highly dangerous as it could impact not only you, but others
around you for the rest of their lives. If you are going to become
intoxicated you should make sure that you will have a ride home from
someone sober such as a family member, friend, or even a taxi/uber.

I
personally have never been into an automobile accident, but I know
and have witnessed people who have. There have been multiple times
where I have witnessed someone who has gotten into an automobile
accident, and a large majority of the time it was due to improper or
distracted driving. This has taught me a lot on how to be a safe
driver myself and how to help others stay safe.

Steps
that I can take to make sure that I am being a safe driver is to turn
off my phone and put it in a safe spot where it will not distract me,
make sure that I am always being aware of my surroundings, and to
always make sure that if sometime in the future I ever get
intoxicated, I make sure that I will have a safe ride home. I can
also help others make sure that they are not distracted by their
phones by holding it for them or reminding them to put it away. And I
can also make sure that if someone I know is not the safest driver, I
can remind them that their actions can have a great impact on the
lives of others.
