The Power of Knowledge in the Safety of Driving
The
explosive widespread use of transportation can be credited to the
invention of cars. The use of cars is now a norm in both American
society and other societies alike. Cars significantly impacted the
lives of Americans and therefore permanently changed society. With
the positive changes from cars, come the negative changes from cars.
Although
cars are seen as a common occurrence, many people do not know how to
operate a car or lack the knowledge to safely operate a car. This
lack of knowledge leads to accidents and results in injuries and
sometimes even death. The solution to fill in this lack of knowledge
is to inform and the best time to inform is in the classroom. As a
result, the necessity of drivers’ education to not only high school
students but also the younger generation. By informing students about
not only correctly operating a car but also the rules of the road,
the students will be well informed even before stepping into the
driver’s seat. Therefore, preventing more accidents and ultimately
reducing injuries and death.
Fortunately,
I have never been in a car accident but I have witnessed some of my
peers drive irresponsibly. Although my friends are normally safe
drivers, occasionally they do act in a wild manner while driving. But
as we become more accustomed to driving, I believe the recklessness
will fade away. However, as contradicting as I sound, some still
drive recklessly even with all the knowledge they received.
Even with knowledge
and a stable mind, accidents still occur and result in death. Of
course, there’s no definitive action to take to reduce the number
of deaths due to accidents. But we can take steps to further reduce
accidents even by a small margin. One less accident is one less
death. In my opinion, there is no limit to how much one can learn. By
further informing and continuing to inform drivers about the safeties
of driving, I hope they can be reminded of its dangers. In addition,
humans are social creatures and will naturally spread knowledge that
they learned.
In
my case, I will continue to refresh my knowledge and further inform
myself of other safety methods. However, it would be unrealistic to
completely refresh my knowledge so, instead, I will create key points
that I can easily come back to. By creating this simple and easy
system, I will share this with my peers in hopes of keeping them
safe. The act of driving is a common occurrence and so are the
accidents. Knowledge has always been the key to our progression and
it will also be the key to our safety.
