Driving
is a very big responsibility and without proper drivers ed it
can be very dangerous. Driving has caused many deaths, but a way to
lower the number of these deaths is to make sure that everyone
receives proper drivers ed before they are allowed to drive.

In
America way too many people die from driving. 34,000 people die as a
result from driving every year. That number is more than the number
of people who died in the Korean War of 1950-53. The reason that
drivers ed is important is to attempt to reduce the number of
casualties from driving. Drivers ed is intended to give
knowledge of the laws of the road to new upcoming drivers. Driver
education gives new drivers everything from what traffic laws mean to
how to drive in different weather conditions. Without this education
the deaths due to driving would be so much more. The steps to reduce
the number of deaths related to driving is first, to continue to
educate the new young upcoming drivers. Keep making teenagers trying
to get their license go through drivers ed and all the education that
comes along with that. Two more ways to reduce the number of deaths
is to stay away from drugs and alcohol and driving tired. Driving
under the influence of drugs and alcohol can affect the way you see
and hear your surroundings on the road which lead to accidents.
Driving tired and falling asleep can lead to reckless driving at the
wheel which also leads to accidents. The reduction of doing those
things will lower the casualties due to driving.

I
have never personally been in a car accident and I have not
personally seen friends or family members driving irresponsibly. One
reason for this is that in my family we take driving very seriously.
Driving is very dangerous so in my family we try to be as safe as we
can. Up to this point I have not driven with any reckless friends.
This is because I know which of my friends are irresponsible and
reckless drivers, so I choose to not drive with them. The ways that I
can be a safe and better driver are: Remembering to stay off my
phone, always pay attention to the road and stay alert, and follow
and obey the laws of the road. Doing these things keeps me safe and
if everyone else on the road follows those things, they will be safe
as well.

Staying
safe on the road is very important to try and reduce the number of
car related deaths in America. Ways to stay safe are to continue
teaching drivers ed and encourage people to not drive under the
influence of drugs or alcohol.
