Education – describing my experience in drivers ed and why I
think drivers ed is crucial to reducing the rate of accident
related deaths

Drivers
education is an important measure to ensure that teenagers are ready
to take their road test and start driving. Drivers ed helps
prepare adolescents for their road test through a series of both
manual and verbal classes. Drivers ed provides students with
information and statistics as well as a vehicle to practice driving
on the road. Additionally, a drivers ed requirement ensures that all
teenagers have been behind the wheel and practiced before they take
their road test.

Throughout
drivers ed, students are taught the rules of the road.
Additionally, students are taught a series of maneuvers such as a
three point turn and parallel parking. Students who take drivers ed
are extremely prepared to drive on their own because they are taught
all the “rules of the road.” For example, in drivers ed my
classmates and I were given textbooks that thoroughly explained road
signs and the etiquette of driving. Drivers ed also teaches
students the consequences of defying road rules, which in a way
scares students to do the right thing.

In
New York state, there are many rules required for a teenager year old
to be eligible to receive their drivers license. It is required that
all teenagers complete drivers ed and have at least 50 hours
of practice to be eligible for their road test. Additionally in New
York state, you are not eligible to take your road test until 17,
even though in most of the states the eligibility age is 16 years
old. The strict rules that are placed in New York to be able to drive
is important in reducing the number of crash related deaths.

I
personally believe that drivers ed is very necessary to
prepare teenagers for driving. There are many rules that are
necessary to ensure that every driver is being safe. It can be very
hard for a parent to have the time and patience to teach their child
how to drive. Drivers ed helps students learn to drive in a
stress free environment so that they are prepared to pass their road
test.
