Many
people find driving safely to be common knowledge, but there are many
people that are uneducated in safe driving. People think of driving
so nonchalantly, but the reality is that people can die when driving
recklessly at a high speed. This makes drivers ed important
because if there is common knowledge for driving people, a norm will
be established. People will drive safer because everyone will have
some sort of basic knowledge of driving. This will lead to drivers
making fewer mistakes since friends or family can point out things
while driving. Furthermore, people must know that driving under any
sort of substance is very dangerous for the driver and passengers.
Receiving knowledge about how alcohol or other substances affect
drivers will reduce people from making decisions before driving.
Also, knowing how to drive in extreme weather is also crucial to
lower deaths. People driving in bad weather conditions without
knowing how to handle the situation may lead to severe accidents. But
primarily drivers knowledge will help a person’s decision making in
situations and with this knowledge they will make safer choices
leading to fewer deaths.

As
for the process for making that happen, there are many organizations
making progress of spreading knowledge. The process of spreading
information through social media and advertisements is already
happening, and that is exactly what I think should be the steps taken
to reduce accident-related deaths. Although the method of using
social media and such is already very common, the people it can reach
is enormous. Of course, that takes a lot of money so organizations
can hold fundraisers and contact schools to help them. This can go
even deeper by having the organization come in and having talks in
schools about drivers ed. This won’t reach as many people
but it will most likely stick with them for a longer period of time.

I
have been in a small accident with my brother when he was driving. He
rear-ended someone and the damage was not big because he wasn’t
going that fast. No one in the accidents was severely injured, but
this was because my brother took his eyes off the road for a couple
of seconds and he didn’t see the person brake. This experience goes
on to tell me that when driving one must always stay vigilant to be
safe. I always try to help my family members and friends drive safer.
I tell them to put on their seat belts when they are not and I check
their speed if I feel that they are going to fast. I also keep an eye
out in case anything unexpected happens and we get too close to
another car.
