Too Young to be Taken

I
live in a small town with not a lot to do except for calling your
friends and asking if they want to go drive around and listen to
music. I am a senior in highschool and for the past 4 years at least
one person who attended my school has passed away each year. Majority
of those deaths were caused by car accidents. It is extremely sad to
see your friends suffer from a loss or yourself to suffer. These kids
were only kids. Kids who had their whole life ahead of them.

Something
has to be done to help save these kids lives. Drivers Ed is rarely a
sit down class anymore. It is online where you can skip over the
slides just to get it done. Therefore teenagers are not learning
anything. Drivers Ed online should be more interactive with
activities to enforce the kids to actually pay attention. Also during
your practice drives with an instructor, the instructor should talk
about scenarios such as what to do if the car runs off the road, or
how to control the vehicle if a tire is popped. More education is
needed in order to lower the deaths in car related accidents. The
importance of this prevents young kids and everyone from being taken
away too soon. Kids have their whole life ahead of them for it to be
taken away by something that could have been prevented by education.

I
have never been in a car accident, but I know many that have been. I
know many people who have lost their lives to car accidents. A young
girl I went to school with my whole life was taken away about 2 years
ago because the car she was in was hit by a train . This year someone
at my school was taken away and his friend was in critical condition
because they were driving while under some kind of drug. I am not
sheltered by these terrifying situations. With knowing these
accidents and many more it helps me be a safer driver. As I am
driving I try to always be aware of my surroundings. This includes
the road, other cars, signs, and railroad tracks. Never speed because
it is not worth it. Taking risks in a vehicle is never worth it
because a life can be taken away in seconds. Most importantly is to
drive normally with your friends in your car. Never try to show off
for your friends. You can end up in a bad situation real fast and you
do not want to be someone who kills their best friend by accident.

In
all, education in driving safety needs to drastically be changed to
help save teenagers’ lives. Drivers Ed needs to be more interactive
and more scenarios situations for kids to feel like they are prepared
for the roads. All of this needs to be done because kids are too
young to be taken away from their families, friends, and community.
