Driving?
What is Driving? A brake and an accelerator.

I
was 12 years old when I experienced the first accident. I wasn’t in
the car but I was on the road. It was in my country, India where
people drive without a license, people drive without seatbelts. It
was 10 at night when I went on a small walk in my society. My
father’s car was parked in front of the house. My mother and my
neighbor were sitting and talking on the stairs of my house. I saw my
uncle sitting in the car for the first time and trying to drive. His
car was parked 2 or 3 houses ahead of our house so we were far but
not that far, we could see each other. My uncle sat in his car, he
had never driven a car before but he was going to drive that day. He
had no experience of driving nor did he take any driving lessons.

I
was on the footpath, talking to my friend when I heard the car
started. My uncle started the car and his son who was giving him
directions on how to drive told him to put his leg on the brake
because the car was accelerating a little bit. My uncle didn’t
listen to his son’s direction because maybe he was confused, so his
son told him again and then his son shouted at him to put the leg on
the brake. My uncle got nervous because he had never driven before,
so instead of putting his leg on the brake he accidentally put his
leg on the accelerator. And what now? There we go, as I said earlier
we were far but not that far. He came accelerating towards me, losing
his control of the steering wheel. I was scared because the car
wasn’t that far, my friend moved as soon as she saw the car coming
but I couldn’t move because I was scared and nervous about what to
do. It was a moment of seconds when my brother pulled me inside the
house, and then my uncle hit the wall and the car stopped. It was
just a moment, my life could have been taken that day just because of
his careless driving.

That
day he understood the importance of Driving Lessons. Not only him but
that day I understood and promised myself that I will drive only
after taking Driving Lessons. Sometimes people don’t understand the
importance and even if they do they simply don’t care just like my
uncle didn’t, he thought driving is just a brake and an
accelerator. And that is why incidents like this make them understand
but why do we always learn after we make mistakes? Why can’t we
learn before making mistakes? Everyone has to understand what it
means to drive without Driving Lessons. Does everyone have to make a
decision, Driving Lessons or someone’s or your life?

Driving
a car is not just a brake or accelerator. The drive means Discipline,
Responsible, Intelligent, Vision, and Efficient driving. It means
that before driving a car you have to take driving classes which are
very important for your understanding of driving and judgment of
driving. Taking driving classes doesn’t only teach you how to drive
but it also teaches you how to be prepared to save someone’s life
while sitting in the driver’s seat. The other important thing when
you think about driving is to pass the written test, some people
don’t take the written test important and they just study the
questions that are going to come in the test. But it is very
important to study the questions carefully because the questions can
help when you are driving. I am currently 17 years old and I gave my
written test and I took my 6 hours driving lessons to carefully and
safely drive on the road.

The
other distracting thing when you are driving is a cell phone. It is
statically proven that over 1.6 million car crashes occur each year
causing 6000 deaths annually due to distracted driving. This happens
because one of us is busy replying to a text message which is not
important or accepting an unimportant call. It takes 3 seconds to
crash a car when you are distracted by a cell phone. Just because of
one person’s responsibility someone could lose a daughter, son,
husband, wife, grandfather, or grandmother. This has to change,
people have to understand, Why an innocent life when you can take
preventions? There are many strategies to avoid distracted driving,
some of them are, Turn the phone on mute so you don’t get
distracted by the notifications or by a ring. If you receive a phone
call which is important to take then pull over a complete stop and
then talk. There are so many strategies you can find but one thing
which is important to understand is if we are distracted we can take
our life or someone else’s life or both lives. It is always better
to take Precautions than to see a bad result. After I get my driving
license, I would always make sure to wear a seatbelt and I will
always make sure that I turn my phone on mute so it can never
distract me. I will also tell my family members or whoever is sitting
with me in the car to not distract me to be a better and safe driver
on the road.
