The Importance of Drivers ed

All
people should learn about the responsibilities of driving at one
point, which could help save their lives and the lives of others
around them. Students who are in high school or college are supposed
to be having the best times of their lives. If people don’t know the
little things about driving on the road, then they won’t be able to
have this experience. It is important to learn both offensive and
defensive parts of driving. You can’t control the actions of the
other drivers you are out there on the road with. The summer I was 16
years old, I took Drivers ed because my parents wanted me to
be prepared before going out driving by myself. I actually enjoyed it
when learning about all the rules and steps that should be taken to
reduce the number of deaths or even injuries, as well as being a
safer driver, not only when I am behind the wheel but also when I am
riding with other drivers. Some examples could be checking my
blindspot, knowing who has the right of way, and always wearing my
seatbelt. These are just a few of the many important things I learned
from Drivers ed. About a month ago, two classmates of mine
were in a terrible car accident. Two underclassmen were also in the
car, one of which was the driver. Tragically, one of my classmates
did not survive. Because there is still an ongoing investigation, we
do not know the complete details of what happened. From the
conversations we have heard from other students, including those who
survived, it is rumored that speed could have been a factor. Other
reasons might also be the fact that they are all young and
inexperienced, and that drugs could have impaired their proper
judgement of even getting into the car to begin with. I have learned
through this tragedy to always obey the law and use common sense
because if you don’t, it could cost someone their life. This is not
how I want to remember my senior year, yet the lessons I have learned
this year will stay with me for a lifetime.
