Education is a Life Conservation
It
is important to be knowledgable on how dangerous getting behind the
wheel is. Drivers ed can inform people on what the driving
world entails. That world consists of many factors that must be
learned to be a safe driver. With drivers ed, knowledge on
vehicle safety and important strategies for serious situations will
be developed. Lessons on road signs and traffic signals will also be
taught to allow drivers to understand and be aware of what’s
coming ahead. With awareness, a bad situation could be dodged and
lives could be saved.
The
amount of deaths that relate to driving is unbelievable. According to
a chart created by DmvEdu.org, there were more driving-related deaths
in 2012 than soldiers in the Korean War. Steps to reduce such an
enormous number of deaths include: no cellphones, no drinking alcohol
before operating a vehicle, and be attentive. Drivers must be aware
that the road is not only for them, but for millions of other drivers
as well. Cell phones are like deadly creatures that can end lives in
a split second. Picking up a cell phone for one second is a simple
action that can end your life, and also another innocent being just
going along with their day. Avoid such distractions and the road will
be a much safer place. Drinking is an act that can hinder someone’s
coordination, judgement, and memory. These are all elements I deem
most important when operating a vehicle. Putting innocent lives at
risk is an act I will never understand and will always view as cruel
and grim. Lastly, attentiveness is important because a sticky
situation can be avoided if the road has the undivided attention of
the individual operating the vehicle. All these steps are taught in
driving courses in hopes to reduce the number of driving-related
deaths.
I’ve
never been in a car accident which I am so grateful for. There were
incidents that were going to end badly if my focus was on anything
but the road. For instance, an incident occurred one day when I was
driving home from school. The traffic light was green, so my foot was
on the gas ready to cross under the light. All of sudden, the car in
front of me held their brakes approximately ten feet away from the
traffic light because they realized that they wanted to make a right
turn. I pressed my brakes immediately to avoid hitting the car. This
prompted the car behind me to switch lanes to avoid hitting the rear
of my car. This moment would have ended badly if I wasn’t being
attentive. I would have rear ended the car, which could have injured
me and the other drivers involved. Due to my attentiveness, I avoided
a terrible accident. To be a better driver, I will avoid distractions
at all costs. Everyone should do the same as well. Be attentive, make
smart decisions, CONSERVE A LIFE!
