Accidents hurt- safety doesn’t

Since the upbringing
of the first vehicle made, there have been many written and unwritten
rules of the road that have come and gone. Lawmakers have juggled
with the different amounts of rules and the decision on which ones to
keep and vice versa. One rule they have enforced on the community of
the United States is that a minor who seeks to drive independently
and without a parent must enroll in a drivers ed course.
place in order to reduce the number of accidents and some may lead to
more fatal outcomes; this may occur because minors may get
overwhelmingly excited and may want to show off by not wearing seat
belts or driving over the speed limit, they may find themselves in
certain uncomfortable situations and must know how to handle
themselves, etc. Some steps that may be taken to prevent accidents
are: not driving under the influence, keeping the volume low to not
impair your hearing of police cars or ambulances, not being on the
phone, driving under or at the speed limit stated, always keeping
your eyes on the road, and more. As a teenager, I am more susceptible
to go in friends’ cars that have just received their license and
finally on the road alone, furthermore, there was one incident that
could have cost my life all because my friend wanted to answer a call
on her phone using one hand. As a trusting friend, I closed my eyes
because I was tired, all of a sudden, I heard an enormous gasp and
felt us swerve like quickly. I asked her what the problem was and she
said as she looked down to answer the call, the car in front of us
stopped and she saw it at the last minute. Since then, I’ve only
driven in the car with her if she allows me to hold her phone and do
any tasks she may ask me to do. I also make sure not to fall asleep
or close my eyes. Being that causing an accident can not only take
someone’s life but also their trust, I have always made sure that I
am in the best condition to drive whether it’s physically or
emotionally, if I am negative in at least one of those criteria, I
tell myself to back up and let someone else drive. Therefore, do not
cause harm on someone else or myself.
