Driving
does not have to cost you your life

When
I started driving, I felt scared and nervous about being behind the
wheel. Over time the more a drive the more comfortable I got and the
better I felt behind the wheel. Taken a course of Drivers ed helps a
lot because they teach you the basics well. It takes time but in end
you feel like a new person because you learned. To reduce the deaths
related to driving teens need common sense as a teen myself I
understand the power the freedom of driving with friends or by
yourself. You feel like you can do anything and that driving fast is
cool and that none of the rules matter. I have been in two car
accidents one that my friend caused and one that I was driving and
got hit on the back. The first incident was because my friends were
being irresponsible and let another friend drive without knowing how
to drive. The second incident I went to pick up some coffee and when
I was getting out of the parking spot a lady went in reverse and hit
me. Accidents happen and sometimes you can’t stop them, but we can
reduce them. To be a better and safer driver we could all be more
aware of our surroundings and expect things that you would never
expect that can happen. Finally doing the basics even though it
sounds dumb doing the thing they teach for example, turning your
headlights at night, don’t drink and drive, turn your signals
before making a turn etc.… All these basics are important to
improve our driving and to create a safer environment in our
community.
