Driving safety

I was 25 when I first decided to get behind a wheel of a car because
I was to terrified to. I remember becoming so frustrated wanting
someone to drive me to the places I needed to be. I was also to
scared to learn to drive because I didn’t want to be in a accident.
I eventually built up the courage to learn to drive. When I was 29
someone ran a stop sign and hit my car while my son was in the car.
My car spent into someone’s yard and the driver pulled off, there
was no trace of the driver. Me and my son were ok but we both were
traumatized from the situation. After the accident I became extremely
cautious, I would yield at every corner and if I seen a car coming I
would automatically stop rather they had to stop or not. Last year I
was driving on the expressway and I heard a loud schreaching noise, a
lady had lost control of her car and hit me. I spent in circles
during rush hour right in the middle of traffic. The car cut off with
me facing on coming traffic. She pulled off just like the previous
driver, but I followed her and called the police to inform them of
the incident. When I caught up to her, she stated “ oh I knew I hit
something but I didn’t see anyone.” She ended up being charged
with a hit and run and I am now so paranoid of driving I barely can.
I’ve had several panic attacks and had to pull over to breathe. I’m
so terrified to get in another accident I prefer to uber or Lyft or
not to go anywhere. I feel so many people do not understand how
quickly one incident could affect someone’s life forever, rather it
be a simple reply to a text or trying to beat the light before it
turns red. I now have PTSD and do not want anyone else to go through
this.

Drivers ed is
important because its so many laws and regulations that everyone
needs to know and understand. People are typically taught by a family
member who only shows them how to get behind a wheel but does not
teach them how to honestly drive, that’s why drivers ED is needed.
If everyone would take driving more seriously, learn and obey the
rules of the road and drive the speed limit there will be less
accidents and a lot less death. I live in Chicago, and a lot of
drivers speed in and out of traffic switching lane to lane with no
turning signals. Turning signals are used to inform other drivers
where you are going, if you don’t use them it can cause a accident
which can take someone’s life.
