Driving
has become the most accessible transportation all around the world.
Although it is a convenient way to travel, driving does come with
risks; one being the common cause of death. It is important to
receive drivers ed to avoid the dangers of driving a vehicle as
well as taking the correct steps to become a safe driver.

There
are nearly 1.25 million people that die due to car accidents each
year. Luckily, drivers ed provides insight, skills, and
approaches for vehicle safety for both the driver and pedestrian.
According to researchers, “A new study that followed more than
150,000 teen drivers over eight years has found that driver’s
education significantly reduces crashes and traffic violations among
new drivers.”

One
of the many steps a driver can practice is buckling their seat belt
in. Wearing a seat belt keeps a person in place during collisions.
Another step that can be used is the reduction of speed. Slowing down
the speed of a vehicle is important because it helps the driver keep
control of the vehicle during poor weather conditions.

Cell
phone usage has become one of the major reasons car accidents occur.
I personally have experienced being in a car accident while riding in
the passenger’s seat. My friend was driving and looked down at her
phone to reply to a message. As soon as she looked back up, she
crashed into the rear end of someone’s vehicle. Even though this
was the only car accident I was involved in, I do not use my cell
phone while driving. Whenever I am not handling the vehicle, I make
sure the individual that I ride with stays off their phone as well.

The
importance of drivers ed helps drivers and passengers stay safe
and avoid death caused by car accidents. Practicing these steps could
save you from being involved in a life-threatening car accident.
