Lack
of Caution; The Biggest Issue On The Road
The
last few years have been a tremendous increase in the number of
deaths that occurred due to driving. In the United States an average
of 34,000 people die each year because of driving. It’s concerning
as a fellow American on why so many deaths are occurring over
driving. Compared to other countries around the world the United
States has a relatively safe driving system but still numerous deaths
occur and they seem to only be increasing. You are finally at the
stage of getting a license! You may be 16 or you may be an adult that
doesn’t matter. What is important is getting proper drivers
education no matter what your age is. If you are a teenager or an
adult it is important for you to consider taking drivers ed.
You may be asking yourself questions and wondering if it is really
worth it. The answer is yes you do need drivers ed and it will
be worth it. Every state has their own rules on the requirements but
the truth is no matter your age and your state you should definitely
take drivers ed. Drivers ed gets you prepared for the
road and the potential risks on the road and in the car. The
significance of drivers education is that it is a course designed to
inform and familiarize drivers with driving so when they are on the
road they know their precautions and everything not to do. A study
at Nebraska University proves that the students who had taken drivers
ed had a lower accident rate of 11.1% while those who did not had a
12.9%.
There
are several ways we can reduce the number of deaths on the road by
avoiding distractions and just being precautious. Stop all
distractions in the car that could potentially cause an accident. Do
not text or call or use your phone for any reason while driving. If
it is important pullover to the nearest location. Do not eat in the
car it’s a big distraction and it may seem harmless but it could
cause a life. Do not apply makeup or put on clothes or whatever it
may be. Never drink and drive their should be no reason too
especially when today we have uber and lyft. Never drive when feeling
tired switch with you your passengers but never drive for more than 8
hours a day giving yourself 15 minute breaks every two hours. Even if
you think you can drive do not risk you and your passengers and the
drivers around. Always have your eyes on the road no matter what
avoid distractions at all cost. I have never been in a car accident
but I have witnessed a car accident. While I was driving on the
highway I noticed a terrifying car crash. A car was speeding trying
to overtake another car but failed to do so and crashed. Several
accidents take place everyday because of small mistakes that could
easily be avoidable. I have seen my parents driving irresponsibly as
well. My parents have been driving for years and are experienced
drivers and they believe that they can text and drive and multi task
because they have been driving for so long. Thousands of other
Americans believe they can multitask since they have been driving for
years but no matter how experienced you may be, you never know when
an accident can occur.
Overall
at the end of the day no one can force you to follow driving rules.
You have to do it for yourself and your safety as well as other
drivers. The biggest step is staying precautions and understanding
the basic driving rules. Be sure to put your seatbelt on and make
yourself comfortable in your vehicle and check the vehicle before
driving for any unexpected troubles. Adjust the mirrors to your
needs. Know where you’re going out in some directions before
beginning the route so you aren’t getting distracted from the road
while driving.
Always
follow the speed limit and watch out for road signs since they are
there for a reason and that reason is to help you. Never multitask
while driving your risking your life and others. Just stay
precautions and determine your ability to drive if you aren’t
feeling well don’t risk it.
