Being a safe
driver consist of lots of knowledge, but don’t let that scare you
off. Safe driving helps you avoid fines, raises in your insurance,
injuries, imprisonment, and most importantly death. If everyone was
educated on the rules of the road we would see a decrease of deaths.
Some important things to remember while driving are to always drive
sober, obey road signs and speed limits, and to always be aware of
cars and pedestrians around you. A lot of the rules when it comes to
driving are quite obvious, but in case people don’t know we should
still educate them. I believe this will help reduce the number of
deaths related to driving. On average, 34,000 Americans die due to
deaths in driving each year. It’s important for drivers to know the
risks and statistics about unsafe driving, so it can motivate drivers
to be more safe and cautious. Another thing that will reduce the
number of unsafe drivers are more strict rules. If the consequences
are more severe than they are now I believe people would be more
cautious in hopes of avoiding these punishments. We could also apply
incentives for safe driving. No matter how old you are, everyone
enjoys a prize. There could be an even higher percentage off
insurance for safe driving. In addition, free tickets to movies and
special events would be motivating. Incentives have been proven to
help get people do stuff in schools and places of business, so why
can’t it work on the road?
I’ve never experienced being in a wreck, but I have seen one. I was
stopped at a red light and the next thing I know I see a minivan fly
past me and run the red light. While she was running the red light, a
truck from the other side was turning, causing a major crash. Both
the minivan and the truck flipped and was completely totaled. This
whole accident could’ve been avoided if she wasn’t being a
reckless, uneducated, distracted driver. She must’ve been thinking,
“Oh I don’t see anyone coming, I’ll just go through it.” That
reckless thought caused a lot of pain and punishments.
I’m a very safe and educated driver. I’ve always paid attention
to what my parents did and rules they taught me about the road. I
don’t get on my phone and I keep an eye out for other reckless
drivers and pedestrians around. One step I can take in being a safer
driver is not listening to music so loud. I think that’s a big
thing that can help people become more aware, which leads to safer
driving. Listening to music loudly can become distracting, leading to
taking your mind off the road. Another big step people can take to
being safer on the road is keeping their phone completely out of
site, eliminating any distractions that keep your mind off the road.
These steps will help us be safe and educated in the driver’s seat.
