Many
young people are being put behind the wheel at sixteen years old with
little to no driving experience. One can not expect to be perfect at
anything without being experienced with it, especially driving. There
are extremely too many things to pay attention to all at one time.
Taking a drivers ed course is very important in giving new
drivers experience and knowledge about the rules of the road. By
taking a course, you’re required to meet a minimum of six hours
behind the wheel with a trained professional helping you. Personally,
I found these hours tremendously helpful because instead of just
learning things about the road, you get to apply them in real life,
also.
In
addition to taking a drivers ed course, there are many
steps that could be taken to prevent car collisions involving younger
drivers. Several of which are described to students in a driver’s
education course. For example, drivers should always be paying
attention to what’s going on around them, as opposed to what
they’re doing. Also, drivers should never touch their phone while
driving. On average, 1.6 million people die every year from a car
wreck involving a cell phone. Whether it’s just a phone call or a
text message, your life is much more important.
Luckily
for me, I have never been involved in a car collision, nor has my
family. However, my close friend was involved in one and thankfully
came out alright. Even though the accident was not his fault, it
still would have resulted in a fatality. That’s why it is
imperative that you pay attention to other drivers as well as
yourself. I truly think that many car collisions would be prevented
and many lives would be protected if drivers took precautions and
realized that the consequences of their actions could be fatal.
