The
importance of drivers ed is self-explanatory. I suggest that
all youth take drivers ed. My parents informed me when they
were 16-17 they didn’t take drivers ed, they would get in a car
and go to the country and drive until they learned. However, they
were living in a small town where drivers ed wasn’t discussed.
Times has changed, it has been many deaths due to people not knowing
the safety of driving. Drivers ed teaches people how to be
safe while driving it only takes seconds for someone to make the
wrong move or can’t read the sign to know what it means and cause
an accident. Steps that can be taken to reduce the number of deaths
related to driving are to put phones away and pull over if needed to
make a call. Be patient; leave ahead of time, this will allow time if
needed to pull over to make a phone call. Always keep your eyes on
the road.
I suggest making a playlist to eliminate fondling with the radio. The
radio and the cell phone is a huge detraction when driving. Drive
for everyone around you and use all mirrors and watch for blind
spots. I have seen several people I know that drive irresponsibly, I
seen them play with the radio, text and drive, and get on social
media. When I see this happening, I educate them immediately, I
discuss the dangers of their action. I discuss how someone can die
and they would be at fault and they will lose their life to prison. I
discuss them dying and leaving their love ones behind to grieve. I
educate individuals when they are not being safe; I also think that
the school should make it a requirement for every youth in high
school to take a class on driving safety. I can become a better
driver by putting my phone up while driving and realizing that a
phone call can wait and the best way to drive is in silence with no
radio on. This will help stay focus on the road and be aware of your
surroundings.
