Safety
of Driving
Driver
Education Initiative Award- Scholarship Opportunity
While
being a safe driver can include training, correct classes, passed
exams and the
education
of safe driving. When having the right education in driving the right
steps, knowing
what
is illegal, knowing the laws and to help prevent crashes and other
hazards. Going through
drivers
ed, in cars and taking the temporary license and driver permit exam
proves the education
process
in which if a driver can pass is able to get their license. When
being well educated on
safe
driving this can help drivers learn things such as road signs, right
aways, traffic light colors,
using
turn signals and what is needed to drive legally.
There
are certain steps and precautions to be taken in order to reduce the
deaths in
driving.
While having a seatbelt on at all times, following the speed limit
and using the correct
turn
signals can be helpful, there are other precautions that can be taken
such as: knowing
what
is legal and illegal, knowing the right away, always keeping the
right amount of space
in
between cars and using headlights when it is dark or cloudy outside.
Having the right
education
and experience in driving can help reduce the deaths and taking
safety precautions
can
also prevent hazards. When driving paying attention to not only your
own driving, but also
paying
attention to others driving can help reduce the amount of deaths,
crashes and other
dangers
involving driving.
I
have seen my best friend drive irresponsibly, over a year ago as a 16
year old she was
driving
with four teenagers (illegal because she was only 16) and had music
blaring then drove
too
quickly and wrecked. Thankfully no one got hurt, but her car got
totalled. Now she is a safe,
responsible
and well aware driver paying more attention on the road and follows
the laws as well
as
the speed limits. She now pays attention to her driving as well as
other drivers driving and
keeps
her music at a good volume. She definitely learned her lesson and I
have learned from her
mistakes
to be a safe driver. Thankfully I wasn’t in the car that night and
I haven’t been in a car
accident
before, and I wish to keep it that way.
To
be a safe driver, I can always wear my seatbelt, use my headlights
when needed, know
the
speed limit, pay attention to other drivers around me and pay
attention to road signs. I always
do
these things but I have reminders in my mind in order to remember to
do these. I can help
educate
other teens and I have thought about helping out with my local
CarTeens. CarTeens is a
program
of other teens teaching other teenagers the safety of driving and
giving tips and advice.
This
is volunteer work, but I would love to help educate teens my age in
the safety of driving.
