Living in a
country where it’s slightly impossible to move from one place to
another by foot. Cars are the main means of transport throughout the
whole country. Growing up in a country where owning a car wasn’t as
common as it is here. It taught me a lot as I was learning how to
drive cautiously. Back home, there aren’t many accidents than it is
here. Mainly because people learn how to drive when they are much
older. As an international student in a country where everything
happens so fast, I was much obliged to learn how to drive to make my
lifestyle much easier. My sister who has been living here for a
while, taught me how to drive. She made sure that I was careful at
all times. Because they will always be obstacles on the road. Such as
bad weather, drunk drives, or just folks who still believe that it is
safe to be behind the wheel while using their electronic devices.

The
fact that I was fully aware of what kind of obstacles I might be
facing in the future while driving. I tried my best to educate myself
on how to react on some of those situations if they ever happened to
me. I believe, if we could get together and learn on how to react on
some of these situations. This might eventually reduce the number of
deaths caused by car accidents. There are many reactions that can be
avoided if all drivers would face them in different ways. I have
watched over the news how many drivers got into accidents after
having a road rage. Drivers who struggle with anger management issues
will feel safer if they were given a chance to take additional
training focusing on how to cope with stress while driving.

Couple
years ago, my sister got into a car accident. She ended up in the
Emergency Room. We believe that the other driver might have been
using his cellphone when he ran the red light. That accident caused
major damage in my sister’s life. She became so fearful to drive
around and it lasted for months. I also came to be friends with
people who were I would say “reckless drivers.” On multiple
occasions, I witnessed my friends or family members driving while
they were highly intoxicated. Few years ago, my friend got into a car
accident while he was highly intoxicated and ended up by wounding
someone else. Unfortunately, my friends still believe that there is
nothing wrong being intoxicated while driving.

One
of the major step I usually take is by staying fully aware and alert
of my surroundings. I do stay away from any electronic device. I
often volunteer to become the Designated Driver so that my friends
and I can stay safe while enjoying ourselves. When we drive, we are
not only keeping ourselves safe. But being a careful driver keeps
others safe from any harm, as well.
