Before
I even learned to drive correctly, I learned how to crash. I learned
of the death and destruction that can be caused by unsafe and selfish
driving. As I grew older, however, I learned that these violent
images are depicting real-life tragedies. Many of these tragedies are
due to driver ignorance. Lives are being lost due to the lack of
drivers ed, if drivers ed were to be increased or viewed
important, the number of lives lost would decrease drastically.

With
drivers ed being key to the saving of lives, we have to have
steps or rules. In my life, I have been in various car accidents
caused by distractions and/or reckless driving. Two of those times
have been me waking up to violent shaking and thrusting worrying
about the outcome of the situation. Thus said, one of the many steps
that can be used to reduce driving-related deaths is to promote
defensive driving. If the driver was more defensive and focused on
safety, the likelihood of there being an accident would dramatically
decrease. Another major step that goes along with this is not using
your phone or having it on Bluetooth mode. In the majority of the
accidents I have been in, a phone was involved by one side of the
accident and I had to live to pay the consequences, others may not
have been so lucky. Safety and knowledge training is the beginning of
a new and hopeful future in driving.

Due
to the number of accidents I have been involved in, it has been
seared into my brain to be a safe driver. After surviving various
accidents that could have been worse, I have been able to analyze and
correct myself. I always drive safe speeds at the right time, I never
text and drive, and I always check before making a move. Those skills
and near PTSD from prior incidents have helped me to become an
accident-free driver. Why would I continue the cycle of reckless
driving in the world when I could blaze a new path of safe driving.

These
traumatizing experiences of waking up to a tornado of spinning wheels
and crumbling hoods have made me realize the need for a positive role
model in driving. A role model that will lay the steps of not being
distracted, not speeding, and defensive driving for the youth to
follow and change the statistics that current drivers have created.
By doing this, I am promoting drivers ed which saves lives that
could be presidents, doctors, directors, etc. By setting this
example, I help myself and others become better and will hopefully
lead the driving world into a place where everyone knows right from
wrong and can live by it. Since I and many others have already
witnessed horrible accidents and bad driving, why should it continue?
By being safe, I promote safety and awareness that will help to save
many of those lives which otherwise would have been lost.
