Safe
driving entails a complex process of safety measures exercised by a
driver. Alertness and focus on surroundings play the most important
part. Knowing the driving laws, safety measures installed in the
vehicle, having a first aid kit, and updating vehicle safety measures
help people make important decisions towards accident prevention.
Being
alert on the road by knowing all the signs plays a huge factor in
accident prevention. Learning to recognize a 4 way stop, steep hills,
when to change lanes, and flashing signs on a school bus all make you
a prepared driver. Other distractions such as pets and siblings have
to be handled carefully as well. Most importantly, texting and
driving on the phone affects a driver’s ability to concentrate
solely on the road, so it must be stopped or given extra
consequences. This will prevent more deaths from occurring from
accidents.
Although
I have never been in an accident for reckless driving, I have seen
the effects of it as a drunk driver once rammed into my neighbor’s
wall, leaving the backyard completely exposed to anyone to come in.
It was a dangerous situation and I know I can never make the mistake
of driving under the influence of drugs.
Bad
weather can sometimes come along unexpectedly and maneuvering in that
comes as a challenge. Keeping a safe distance while having the three
second rule in my head will help me from preventing accidents. Also,
I can slow down when the weather is bad so I can control the car
better. Zipping in and out of lanes in heavy traffic is another idea
that I can implement to lower the risk of an accident.
