Too
easily people are distracted by the lure of their cell phones when
driving, in hand turning that “last glance at their screens,”
to also become their last glance they’ll ever take. Vehicle accidents
are one of the leading causes of deaths around the world, with cell
phones being one of the dominating causes. I have often pondered over
ways younger people could benefit from the innovations and
intelligence of others to further restrict and decrease the count of
accidents around the world, finding only that, in clear conscience,
the safety of our people rests only in their hands.
The
truth of the matter is that the actions they make simply boils down
to the desire and intelligence of the drivers themselves. There are
only so many inventions and ideas that can restrict the abilities and
freedoms of the people who roam our societies streets, for at the end
of the day, its is they who are accountable for their actions. So
what can be done then, one might ask? The answer is this: fear is one
of the greatest driving forces in all humans, so what do we do? We
instill fear. This being the fear of losing one’s own life, or the
fear of losing their loved ones.
Too
little are drivers informed of the horrifying truths behind cars;
being the weapons they are. Too often is the dangers and power of
cars and vehicles belittled. Now is the time to make a NEW voice
known, a harsh and cautioning one. It is past due that people seeking
a license should undergo courses and lessons of all sorts, to
properly inform them of the terrifying truths of which cars are truly
capable of, and what they are capable of destroying. Long overdue is
the time to institute annual, mandatory course lessons, designed to
enforce and establish moral adherence, in attempts to warn our
drivers of the true dangers these vehicles pose. Maybe then will our
generation think of the lives they hold within their hands, before
looking down at a lifeless, purposeless, inanimate screen. Maybe,
just maybe.
