Hello,
and greetings to you from wherever time zone you may presume. As you
can see in the pictures above the United States has more deaths in
car accidents alone than in actual war. If you can not feel the
seriousness of the situation, read the sentence above one more time
and actually analyze the graph.

Being
a senior I know how it is to want to have a car so that you can go
out with your friends to a movie or just do whatever it is teenagers
do. I understand the need for a car when you have 10 minutes to get
to work but your lyft says “arrives is 8 minutes.” In some cities
and states such as New York a car is not necessary but if your living
in a state like Florida where everything is spaced out you absolutely
NEED a car. This is not an exaggeration. One thing that many young
people do not understand it the seriousness of driving. You are
literally holding in your hands a legal weapon that can fatally harm
you and those around you whether they are in your car, the next car
or a pedestrian walking along the street.

Having
a decent education on driving is a phenomenal help in driving. I say
this because drivers ed is literally educating your beautiful
minds with information about driving. It’s like attending all your
7 periods in a day and learning new information about a topic such as
Psychology or World History. The more you are educated on something
the better chances you have of passing the test and retaining the
information learned over a long period of time. Without a course on
driving how would you know the rules and regulations of driving. I
say this because, of course, you can get in a car and just drive but
without knowing what a certain sign or line on the floor means how
are you going to navigate nor get to your destination? As a human we
do not want to work harder on things we want to get faster smarter
solution and just trying to go with the flow is not a smarter
solution, especially when it comes to driving. In 2005 nearly 44,000
people have passed due to car accidents. That is not a number to take
lightly. This statistic would have never been known though if it
wasn’t for you reading this essay or somebody showing you the facts.
Knowing the facts will save your life because more people will be
educated on the road and it will be safer for yourself as well as
others.

Every
person has seen or knows someone in their life who has passed away
naturally or brutally and that empty gap in your heart does not feel
good. I know because I have experienced this myself. I know how it
feels to lose the ones closest to you out of nowhere. No goodbyes….
So with this thought in your head alone you as a person handling a
car and having hundreds of peoples lives in your hands as you are
driving should keep this in mind because you don’t want to hear from
your aunt that your 4 year old cousin was hit by a car in the middle
of the street and was immediately brain dead. For a fact you do not
want to do this to anybody’s child. I’ve seen first hand while in
the car with my father a semi trucks back wheel pop off from the
truck on a 70 mile per hour highway gong at full speed burst off and
lose control. Luckily my father and the drivers around us we alert
and was able to get out of the semis hurling presence fast enough and
nobody was hurt. Right there even though it was an external source
that made the car go out of control and had nothing to do with the
driver right there in that case you had to be 100% on your game to
not get hit by it.

In
my personal opinion I believe in order to reduce death rates due to
car accidents I believe people need to stop driving high and drunk
and get OFF their phones. I believe that text message or phone call
is not more important than your life because that 1 seconds you take
to answer a call or message can be the one second you needed to save
your life and now you do not have the opportunity to receive any moe
phone calls because you got hit by another car and on the way to the
hospital died from injuries. Think about that for a second I know you
do not want to be in that position fighting for you life due to one
simple decision you choose to make. I also believe another way to
reduce death rates is by giving the driver more practice on the road
with a supervised adult before receiving their license and or permit.
Taking the simple steps to make sure you are safe in the future and
now is 100% worth it.

Personally,
I can have more practice on the road myself with my dad or someone
who is experienced and has a license that can watch and guide me to
do and be better. I can make snaps or instagram videos and post them
so people can hear and see my words since social media is where
everyone’s life really is. Be aware of my surroundings and be
sympathetic to others control my frustrations on the road and take
deep breaths or pull over if ever feeling anxious while on the road.
One thing I will never do is drive impaired because I have seen,
been, and heard of too many situations where it all could have went
wrong.Cherish your lives as well as others. #YOLO #DRIVERSEDUCATION
