Every
year countless people lose their lives because of automobile
accidents. Whether it is drunk driving, reckless driving, not wearing
seatbelts, texting and driving, or just plain being distracted, too
many people are dying as a result of a lack of drivers ed.
It is extremely important to reduce these number of deaths as a
result of driving because it is super easy to just pay attention to
the road ahead of you. If everyone was educated on this importance
then the numbers would reduce. Steps that can be taken are to make
sure you put away your phone when driving, taking proper safety
precautions before starting the vehicle, and making sure that if you
or someone you know is under the influence that they have a
designated driver, call a taxi, or stay home, but never get in the
driver’s seat.

I
have had a pretty scary experience myself with someone driving me
that is under the influence. My stepdad picked me up from work and he
was extremely intoxicated. He was swerving, going on the wrong side
of the road, and speeding. I was very scared, I told him countless
times to slow down and pull over. I called my mom and despite what
could have happened, we got home without hurting ourselves or anyone
else around us.

Therefore
I am very dedicated to make sure that I am a safe and cautious driver
myself. I always wear my seatbelt, check my surroundings, drive the
speed limit, never drive under the influence, keep my eyes on the
road, leave my phone on silent in the back seat, and always use my
turn signals to make sure other vehicles on the road know exactly
where I am headed. By doing all of these things I can make sure that
I am safe and I am not harming anyone else.
