Am
I driving correctly?

Stegner said: “It is the beginning of wisdom when you recognize
that the best you can do is choose which rules
you want to live by, and it’s persistent and aggravated imbecility to
pretend you can live without any.” In my opinion, when people do
not follow rules, such as driving instructions, accidents occur.
Therefore, driving education is essential for youths, such as me, to
learn the accurate way to drive. Teaching teenagers the proper
regulations of driving will eventually decrease deaths related to car
accidents. In other words, the more people knowing accurate technique
to drive fewer accidents can occur.
In
my experience, I have seen how my parents sometimes do not follow the
rules of the road which have leaded them to multiple car accidents.
First, my mother who loves to drive fast, that sometimes forgets if
she is driving or painting her nails. Second, my father who loves to
leave behind drivers that are supposedly “driving slow”. On
account of them, I have decided to always and forever follow rules
whenever I am driving. I do not want to be responsible for the 9th
most common death worldwide occurring 1.3 million times a year.
Instead, we should reflect and ask ourselves… Am I driving
correctly? Am I following the rules so I do not kill anyone by
accident? Am I trying to avoid something most teenagers and adults
do, using their phones while driving? I believe that a car can be a
weapon more than a gun, a bomb, or even a knife; given that you are
risking not only your life, but those around you. Thus, I have
created conscience about this problem, always reminding drivers
including myself, to not use their electric devices. Is it really
significant seeing a message, a video, or a post than the lives that
are around you? No, I believe not, that is why is important to ask
yourself… Am I avoiding the use of my electronic device?
In
summary, not being focused on the road, not looking further ahead
when driving causes accidents that could be easily prevented. For
example, leaving space between cars, driving in appropriate speed in
traffic, not driving drowsy or under controlled substances, and
grabbing the steering wheel correctly can help reduce deaths.
Nevertheless, it would be sad to shorten the days of your life for
not using your time correctly, capable of leaving your health behind
for a second of leisure. Because if you are driving there is nothing
more important than being 100 percent concentrated on the road.
