Driving is one of the most
dangerous things people do every day. With the advancements made in
the past few decades cars have now peaked lethal top speeds that make
any careless driver a threat to others. Therefore, it is important to
always drive safely and for society to ensure that every driver is
responsible and ready to drive. One-way society tries to make sure
that every driver is safe and responsible is through drivers ed
classes. These classes are important because they teach students
about the proper driving safety as well as what an happen if someone
doesn’t drive safe. If it weren’t for these classes, there would
be many more dangerous drivers on the road who are simply ignorant to
the dangers they pose to themselves and others. While these classes
are very helpful in preventing drivers from driving ignorantly there
are still dangerous drivers who don’t care that they endanger
others. Also, even if someone is always diligent when they drive,
accidents can happen at any time. In order to prevent deaths from
these kinds of circumstances both roads and vehicles must be made
safer. Vehicles are steadily increasing in safety with many being
designed to absorb the impact of a crash to keep the driver and
passenger’s safe. In fact, new vehicles do an exceptional job of
sacrificing themselves to save the people in them. If a person looks
at images of an accident involving newer vehicles, they may think
that “they don’t make them like they used to” due to how
damaged the vehicle will appear to be. However, all the excessive
damage seen on the vehicle is damage that didn’t directly impact
the people in the car. As for safer roads one relatively new
technology is a new type of guard rail along roads made with a type
of rolling bumper to allow cars to safely slide along until they stop
instead of slamming into, or through, traditional guard rails.
Implementation of these safety measures, and others like them, will
considerably reduce the number of deaths via accidents in the future.
While I have never been in a major accident, I was in a minor one
when I was very young, I have seen the effects a high-speed crash can
have on a human body. Our drivers ed teacher was smart and made
sure we knew what could happen if we drove dangerously by showing
videos of car crashes caused by reckless driving. Also, my aunt was
recently in the hospital because she was hit by a reckless driver
evading the police. She is fine now however when she was first put in
the hospital she looked to be in bad shape. Seeing what can happen
when someone drives recklessly has made me drive safely, for both my
own safety and others. This includes obeying all traffic laws and not
being stupid, no loud music when in traffic or messing around with
friends while driving. These measures are how I stay safe while
driving.
