Driving
is a Privilege

Everyone
has the right to drive, but driving is more than a right, it’s a
privilege. It isn’t a sport, a race or even a game of some sort.
It’s a responsibility that few take seriously because individuals
don’t understand the risks involved until they experience it and by
then it could be too late.

The
importance of driving education is to not only promote, but teach the
newer generation taking over the roads, how to drive safely and
responsible by not taking risks such as when a driver reaches an
intersection on a yellow. They should slow down and stop, there’s
no need to risk one’s life speeding through a yellow that could
turn red at any minute. When a light turns red, most will drive on,
but they need to remember that most cannot be considered safe drivers
and will run a red light. So, young driver needs to look both ways
before crossing as those they were only walking.

Driving
is a difficult skill to learn and improves individual’s focus,
lengthens attention span and adaptability to new situations because
no drive will ever be the same even if it’s on the same road
because a lot of factors play a distinctive role in safe driving.
Your mental, emotional and physical states and of those around you as
well as weather, road repairs and so on…. So, its important to
continue excellent driving education to lower the death rates and
steps to reduce this would begin with simple courtesy on the road.

Other
steps include: don’t drive out in a snowstorm or lightning or any
other terrible storm, turn your phone on silent and make sure its out
of reach, do a safety check, seatbelt, mirrors, doors etc… before
leaving the house and no distractions such as loud boisterous music
and food and beverages. Its fine to have music in the background and
food in the back for later, but the driver’s only focus should be
on the task of driving.

One
should never drive on an empty stomach or in any emotional distress
or physical pain. One should only drive with a clear and focused mind
because otherwise the mind leaves room for distractions and that’s
when something seeps into the human mind and it only takes a moment
of distraction to cause an accident of any level of severity.

I’m
blessed enough to be able to say no, I’ve never been in any kind of
car accident. To become a better and safer driver on the road is too
practice and keep the mind clear and focused, far from distractions
as well as being confidant enough to admit when we shouldn’t be
driving and be comfortable with asking for a ride.

Always
remember driving is a privilege which we as individual need to earn
and keep our promise to continue being safe, courteous and
responsible driver’s.
