Driver
education is highly important to everyone no matter what age. It
doesn’t matter if you are 10 years old or 100 years old, driver
education is important! At some point in your life you will be in a
car, doesn’t matter if you are the driver or a passenger. As
dmvedu.com stated 34,000 people are killed in a single year in the US
related to car accidents. Teaching more people about the results of
practicing unsafe driving habits can help bring that number of deaths
down.
To
reduce the number of driving-related death more people need to be
educated on safe driving habits. I think that you should be taught
safe driving habits starting in elementary school. It should be just
like smoking. At a young age, we are told about the dangers of
smoking and all of the reasons you shouldn’t do it. Why not teach
kids at a young age how to be safe drivers. I also believe that in
school kids should have to attend an assembly once a year that
encourages safe driving habits. As gorey as it can be, I also think
that there should be images shown, (of course to kids that are old
enough to view things like that). Those images are what give people
the chills and think twice about texting and driving. I think that
all adults need to realize that wearing a seatbelt is the difference
between life and death. Their kids should be taught this too. One
simple click that takes a matter of a couple of seconds.
Last
year one of the girls in the senior class was in a car accident. She
wasn’t wearing her seatbelt and she was going to the right shoulder
of the road about to run off and she overcorrected and flipped her
car. She didn’t get to graduate, she didn’t even get to grow up,
she was only 18. Not only did she lose her life but other students at
school were affected, her family was devastated. They now have one
less daughter just because she didn’t take those couple of seconds
to make that click and put on her seatbelt when she got in the car.
Wearing a seatbelt could have saved her life. Seatbelts are the only
thing that can keep you safe in a vehicle crash.
You
never know if you might cause a wreck or if someone is going to crash
into you. You never know if a malfunction might happen like your
breaks going out. Always wear your seatbelt. I never text and drive.
People are killed all of the time because they take a look at their
phone screens. I encourage others to put their phones down when
driving. I tell everyone that gets into my car to put their seatbelt
on. One-click that takes a matter of seconds can be the difference in
losing a life and continuing one after a vehicle crash.
