On average 3,287
people die in a car crash every day. 3,287 fathers, mothers,
brothers, sisters, children, wife’s, husbands. Many people become
very reckless while driving. They think they can get away with one
text, one drink or one time where they think they don’t need a
seatbelt. These thoughts are what is getting 3,287 innocent people
killed. Simple steps can be taken every day to potentially save
multiple lives. Driving is something that many people take for
granted. They don’t understand how something so small like looking
at your phone can result in another person going 6ft under.
Reckless driving
has been killing innocent people for years and is something that we
need to be aware of today. From drinking and driving to a simple
incorrect lane change could be the result of anyone’s life.
Therefore, my advice goes the extra step. Driving under the
influence, and distracted driving is the number one cause of fatal
car crashes, but we should also be aware of the small step’s
drivers can take to make a big difference. This advice is equally as
important because it teaches drivers that there is more to be a safe
driver then just taking a vow to not drive under the influence or
while being distracted.
Many other factors
play into being a safe driver. Such as being aware of your
surroundings. These skills are vital to be a safe driver because the
more that you are aware of your surroundings the less likely you are
to get into an incident. 3,826 people have been in a fatal car crash
in 2017 that was caused from failure to keep in their lane. 3,711
people have also been in a fatal car crash that was caused by failure
to yield of the right of way. That is around 4,000 people who never
get to say goodbye. Who never get to experience the feeling of cold
ice cream on a summer day, or hot chocolate on a cold day. 4,000
people who will never get to kiss their loved ones or laugh with
friends. These numbers could easily be decreased if people were to
look, evaluate and be more aware of their surroundings. Take the
extra second to check any blind spots, do that head check and check
your surrounding because the life of a loved one may depend on it.
60% of adult
drivers say that they have driven while drowsy and as a result this
has led to 1,306 deaths according to 2017 data). Driving while
drowsy, fatigued or ill is very dangerous because you often forget
about basic road rules. You then become less aware of your
surroundings and allow room for simple mistakes that could kill.
Don’t live under the excuse that “I’ll be okay once I get up
and start driving” because that could be your last thoughts and
words.
Many men, women and
children die every day because of simple mistakes. Many people need
to understand that driving is very dangerous. Its more than just a
promise you give out insuring that you are a safe driver. It’s the
action of living up to that promise. Prove that that promise means
something to you, because if you can’t then it’ll be the blood of
someone’s loved one on your hands. Therefore, prove your promise by
taking little step’s to be safe, if you are tired, don’t drive.
Preform a head check to ensure that you are safe to go. Put your
phone down, the text can wait. Lastly, don’t drink and drive.
Please, take the extra steps to be safe so you or a loved one doesn’t
become one of the 3,287 average.
