On The Road

In my year of
driving, there have been many things that I have seen when on the
road. As much as I wanted to help, there has never really been an
opportunity for me to express my opinions on public safety on the
road. Although my time on the road has been short, I have seen more
than 7 accidents. Each one I continued to ask myself the same
question. What can I do in order to create a better environment for
myself and others on the road? According to the association for safe
international road travel, there are about 3,278 deaths on the road
everyday. There are many factors that I think would help increase
safety on the road, and drivers ed is a huge part in that.

Drivers ed,
as tedious as it may be, is a factor of creating a safer place for
people to drive. In many states, the age to drive legally is younger
than 18, which means there are many children on the road. I know
better than to think that kids would be fine on the road with no
extra help. I think that the drivers ed courses help in
reducing the number of deaths because of the things that children are
taught during those classes. They learn to properly and safely
signal, turn, and control the way that they drive. I think the key to
stop accidents is to not be distracted while driving, and to continue
to do what the drivers ed courses are teaching you. Although I’ve
never experienced the devastation of an accident first hand, I know
how the lives of people are affected every day by the deaths and
hospitalizations caused by road irresponsibility.

In
conclusion, I feel that driving requires people to have their full
attention on the road. There should be no reason for anyone to get
injured while on the road except for uncontrollable factors. I pray
that one day, people will take drivers ed and driving more
seriously so that less people will get injured.
