As a new Georgia driver, I am very inexperienced but I do know that
there needs to be an increase in driver safety in all means of
transportation. Improving and/or increasing safety is great for
government, drivers, pedestrians, and passengers. Traffic accidents
can be reduced or avoided if everyone improve on their road safety.
There are several ways that drivers of automobiles can be more
responsible, but I will just point out a few.

First and most important step is to make sure you are wearing your
seatbelt before you move your car. Make sure any passengers you may
have in the car are wearing their seat belts as well. Also make sure
your passengers understand no fooling around in the car like sticking
their heads out the windows or yelling at people inside or outside of
the car because those are distractions you do not need. Follow the
laws of the road so that everyone is safe, like no speeding. Speeding
gives you less time to react to sudden stops and causes a more
intense accident.

Road rage isn’t a new thing but it’s becoming more of a problem
for drivers. There have been many cases where someone got mad that
someone else cut them off and their road rage causes them to pull out
a gun and shoot the other driver. To try to avoid a road rage
situation don’t cut people off or change lanes too fast, use
turning signals at the proper times so that other drivers can know
when you are about to turn, slow down or stop. After you make a turn
and the signals don’t automatically go off then make sure you
immediately cancel the signal, so no one is confused of your
intentions. Keep a comfortable distance from other drivers so if they
suddenly stop you don’t crash into the back of them, especially
when the weather is bad.

Those are just a few ways to improve and/or increase driver safety.
While obtaining my learners permit and my driver’s license I
learned you have to drive for yourself and everyone one else out
there and to just always expect the unexpected and be prepared.
Don’t be a distracted driver, keep your focus and concentrate on
driving. Don’t text and drive and don’t use your cellphone while
driving.
