Driving Safely is Essential
Driving
safely is one of the most important things to do. It doesn’t matter
how long you’ve been driving for and how comfortable you may feel,
you must always drive safely and be aware. In order to understand
this, drivers ed is an important step. Drivers ed
teaches teens how to operate and drive a vehicle in many situations
and how to do so safely. Statistics have shown that drivers ed, “can
reduce their (teen) accident rate by 4.3%.”, which reduces the
possibility of deaths related to driving. Taking drivers ed has also
known to give young drivers more confidence when first going out into
the real world of driving, as well as a sense of personal
responsibility.
I’ve recently got into an accident which was not my fault. I was
heading westbound having the right-away and the driver I collided
with was stopped at a stop sign to my left. He was stopped for awhile
looking to his right, not checking to his left if anyone was coming
and went forward and we collided. Even though it wasn’t my fault, I
tried to learn from this experience. I learned that you always have
to anticipate what others might do and pay attention to all of your
surroundings. Even if you know the street you are driving on very
well, doesn’t mean others do; and you would think those who don’t
know where they are very well they’d pay extra attention, but
people aren’t perfect. No matter how comfortable you are, always
drive cautiously and taking Drivers ed will prepare you for
what the road has to offer.
