Being
well educated about the road and the laws of the is highly important
in order to keep your life safe as well as others. Such as being able
to read signs. Reading the signs and being able to understand them is
crucial. For example, “WRONG WAY” can keep a driver from entering
an off ramp and prevent an accident from happening. Also
understanding the signs of road conditions, if you see a sign that
shows a sharp turn it could prevent a driver from flipping their car
due to going to fast around the curb. Not only is drivers ed
important in order to understand road signs but it is also important
to know how far a car’s distance should be from the car in front of
them at all times. Becoming an educated drive helps prevent the
number of accidents and number of deaths due to accident.

There
are a lot of steps that can reduce the number of deaths that are
related to driving. Such as, driving slow in a parking lot, can
reduce the risk of hitting a person. Another is not running a red
light. Many deadly accidents can be caused by people running red
lights and hitting the drivers with a right away at a high speed.
Another step that can reduce deaths is don’t drink and drive.
Simply if your had a drink or are impaired in any way do not get
behind the wheel. When you get behind that wheel you are incontrol
and it is not fair to take someone else’s life due to getting behind
the wheel intoxicated. Deaths caused by driving can help be reduced
by following these steps.

Unfortunately,
I have experienced a driver, driving irresponsibly and ended up in an
accident, it was me. It was around 8pm after softball practice, I was
beyond exhausted and my focus was not there. As I was leaving the
parking lot I noticed a pesky little mosquito and instead of being
smart and pulling of I irresponsibly was swatting at it and end up
hitting a telephone pole and totaling my car. Thank goodness no one
was around or got hurt. Instantly I knew I messed up and made a big
mistake, since then I have greatly learned from this mistake and I
never take my eye off the road. I felt so selfish, I could have
possibly hurt someone else or myself.

Many
precautions and steps can be done in order to be a safe driver. One
step that can be taken to be a safer driver is wearing your seatbelt.
Always wear your seatbelt! Just because your a safe driver does not
mean the car next to you is and you have a much better shot at
surviving an accident if your wearing your seatbelt. I can prevent
you from coming out of your seat or flying through the window.
Another step that can be taken to be a safer is putting your phone
down and not looking at it until your car is completely parked. That
phone call can wait, that text can wait, your life can not. Another
step that can be taken is doing the speed limit. The speed limit is
not a suggestion, it’s a law. And the law put it there because it’s
the safe speed to go through that area. And a final step to reducing
deaths would be to be cautious to surroundings at all times such as
pedestrians, especially in a parking lot people are going everywhere
and with drivers ed you would know that pedestrians have the
right away.
