It’s not ideal to die in a
car crash, so let’s get educated on being behind the wheel. Everyday
people are killed in driving related accidents, so in hope of
decreasing the number of accidents this essay will examine the
importance of drivers ed, discuss how to reduce the number of
deaths related to driving, and the ways I overcome my faults with
driving. In the end it is each driver’s responsibility to be
educated and alert on the road.
The importance of drivers
Education can be summed up in two categorize. The first being that it
teaches people about the laws and etiquettes of driving. This helps
people know things like if they can merge into another lane safely or
prevent an accident before it happens. The second is helping people
understand and know if they are in the right condition to drive. When
people think of not being in the right condition to drive, they
usually only think that the person is intoxicated. Well, people’s
emotion can have just as bad of an effect on their driving.
Hysterical people are just as unfit to drive as people who are
intoxicated.
There are many opinions on how
to reduce the number of deaths related to driving, but two seem to
stick out in the debates. Some drivers say they tend to become
unaware of their surroundings and often this leads to a wreck that
can be fatal. Other people say that the corporations making the cars
need to improve their safety features and use stronger materials on
the outside of the cars. They hold the argument that if these
businesses would use better materials then even if the driver was to
wreck, there would be less of a chance of death. There are many
factors that can’t be helped but it would be wise if both parties
stepped up and took things seriously.
My own personal experiences
with driving are little to none. I have never been in a wreck but
sometimes I find it hard to concentrate when I drive. I know this is
a dangerous tendency, so I try to fix it by getting rid of
distractions like the radio or talking. I also get too comfortable
when driving and it makes me less aware of my surroundings. To remedy
this, I usually turn off my cruise control, take a different route to
my destination, or put a window down to get some fresh air.
When behind the wheel it is
important to stay alert and quick to react. In the end it is each
driver’s responsibility to be educated and alert on the road, so
others don’t get hurt. Drivers ed gives people the basic
knowledge they need to be safe drivers. There are many solutions that
can be put into effect to help keep people safe on the road.
