Driving is very relevant in today’s society, we need to drive to
get to places. But many lives have been lost due to unsafe,
distracted driving. It’s imperative to keep safe on the road to
prevent the loss of valuable lives. People need to be aware of how to
drive safer and the effects of distracted driving. I was in a bad
accident that to this day affects my dad’s back. We were rear-ended
extremely hard by someone who was speeding due to not paying
attention to the road because they were on their phone. Many other
people have been severely hurt and killed in accidents due to unsafe
driving. We need to stop this
There are more
deaths due to driving than soldiers lost in Afghanistan. To reduce
the number of driving-related deaths, we need to use drivers ed
to inform drivers. Drivers ed is imperative to educate future
and current drivers about how to drive safely and the consequences of
not driving safely. Also covering the topic of safe driving on TV
programs like the news, to inform people watching. Also, cracking
down on unsafe drivers found on the roads can move people to drive
safer. With laws made like the recent law passed in Florida where not
only can you get pulled over for texting and driving, but holding a
phone in your hand while driving can get you pulled over. This will
people more aware of what they’re doing and keeping theirs and
others lives safe.
To be a better driver, I do my best to be aware of everything around
me on the road, whether its who’s behind or in front of me, or even
someone walking around. Being aware is a big part of driving, and the
lack of it is what causes accidents. To help others to be safer I
would inform them about the dangers of being distracted, for example,
I was in the car with someone on their phone texting while driving. I
asked to text the person for them on their phone instead so they
wouldn’t be distracted. Something as simple as that can save lives.
In conclusion,
we can see that the road is dangerous, through experience. There are
ways to improve driving and keep the road safer. We need to be aware
of our surroundings while driving and keep from being distracted. We
can even help others to be safer on the road. It’s so important to
remember the sanctity of life and keep others as well as ourselves
safe. We need to be the ones to work towards change and save people.
