The
Reason Why People Are Distracted While Driving
These
couple of years since technology has advanced a lot, deaths on the
road has been higher than humans dying in wars. One of the reasons
for car accidents is our cell phone which distracts the driver in
ether running someone over, hitting another car or causing them to
hit an object on the side. We also have the drunk drivers and the
drivers who are in a rush to get to their destinations, but they are
also the reason why car accidents happen more often. There was a
saying I heard when I was taking Drivers Ed class that car accidents
happens blocks away from your home because we could be driving
perfectly fine but there’s always some in a rush trying to beat
time or someone distracted waiting for a situation to happen so they
can change their bad habit. A
drivers ed and their mentality can reduce the number of
accidents but on the Turnpike and Garden State Park Way they have
signs on “Put your phone down and Pay attention to the road”.
People hear tragic stories about how children, mothers, fathers,
cousins, friends etc. Die from drunk driving, someone distracted or a
reckless driver, but everyone feels sad for 2 minutes and forgets
about it and does that bad driving anyways. One of the biggest steps
I have seen being taken is people getting their license taken away or
getting points on it which isn’t bad, but people are still dying.
Steps we ca take is let families be heard if someone’s drunk or
reckless driver, people should speak up and call the police and make
it be aware of it. We should prevent it and not stay silent. I have
heard about a student in my school my freshman year that suffered a
car accident because she was coming home late from work and a
distracted driver that was on his phone was driving on the wrong side
of the road, he hit her. They both were okay, but it could have led
to something worse. Some could have gotten hurt or maybe even
civilians walking on the sidewalks could have gotten hurt. As I
became driver, I have realized that you can’t beat time, if you
left home late or running late, you’re going to be late and nothing
that you do is going to make you be on time. It’s better to take
your time and be a safe driver then being reckless and killing
yourself or someone else. Another step is let the driver know his
actions like beep at him or flash your lights to ether wake him up or
have him assume what is going on. Another important thing is speak up
when there’s a reckless driver because we could be saving a life
and a traumatic experience that could happen, we as drivers should
start worrying about how it will impact ourselves and our family if
we were the reckless driver.
